This project entails the design and construction of a net-zero commercial hospitality destination in rural Alberta, consisting of a 8,000 sqft multi-use net-zero event hall and 14 net-zero guest cabins. Instead of traditional fossil-fuel utilities, the site serves as a real-world, commercial-scale living lab for multi-source microgrids and extreme-cold climate circular water systems. The facility validates the commercial viability of fully off-grid, net-zero operations in the hospitality sector.
The core innovation of this project lies in systems integration, bringing together four distinct renewable energy profiles and an advanced wastewater ecosystem into a single, cohesive infrastructure network.
The strategic value to Alberta is as an active demonstration site for a scalable case study about transitioning the hospitality sector toward decarbonization and absolute net-zero emissions under Alberta’s extreme weather conditions while supporting economic diversification and attracting regional and international tourism.
